In Marine Harvest breeding is central to our Blue Revolution strategy, helping us implement better welfare and
sustainability of production by focusing our breeding goals directly on the needs of our farming community.

The position as Geneticist is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing team, working in the challenging and fastmoving area of genetics applied to animal production. You will be working alongside our research partners as well as our Global R&D and Technical Department and production teams to help deliver genetic progress from the breeding department to the salmon growing environment.
We are seeking scientists with skills and experience in the following areas: quantitative genetics (including breeding value estimation, breeding goal definition and mating design), genomic selection, bioinformatics and analysis of genomic data (including high density SNP array and next-generation sequencing data), database development and maintenance, and R&D project conception and management.
The position requires a PhD in the field of animal breeding, molecular genetics or bioinformatics. Both senior scientists with good publication records and experience with aquaculture species and junior scientists with relevant skills are encouraged to apply.
Participation in field operations (eg. Data collection, breeding operations) is encouraged and some travel in Norway and internationally will be required.

Office location is Bergen, although other options can be discussed.
