Managing Director

To lead SeaBOS from an initiative to a professionalized organization with a clear voice within the Seafood industry and towards both society and regulators, we are seeking a professional to fill the role of Managing Director SeaBOS. The Managing Director will provide strategic direction and play a key role in establishing a governance and communication platform for SeaBOS. 
We are looking for a Managing Director SeaBOS who ultimately reports to the Board consisting of the CEO’s from the member companies. On a day-to-day basis, reporting will be to the elected Chairman of the Board. 
Key areas of responsibility:
  • Formulate a SeaBOS strategy and translate the overall strategy into action in collaboration with the member companies. Some of this action will be taken through the activities of task forces;
  • Organize each task force as separate projects consisting of representatives from the member companies and supported by a secretariat and the main scientific partners Stockholm Resilience Center and the Swedish Royal Academy of Science. 
  • Managing Director SeaBOS will participate in each taskforce and be accountable for progress and alignment within SeaBOS;
  • Formulate a communication strategy for SeaBOS on the basis of the strategy and the task forces, seek approval and alignment from the Board and implement;
  • Accountability for internal and external communication based on agreed communication plan;
  • Represent SeaBOS and to be the face to the outside world in relevant meetings around the world;
  • Manage the network of global companies (the members) including organizing the annual general meeting;
  • Maintain and active dialogue and working relations with the main scientific partners;
  • Manage a small team – the secretariat;
  • Responsible for the financials of SeaBOS including regular reporting to the Chairman.
The right candidate has:
  • Relevant university degree; 
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant business experience in a multinational corporate environment;
  • Passion for sustainability and the global Seafood industry;
  • Excellence in verbal and written communication;
  • High level proficiency / near-native in English;
  • Skills in making and doing presentations for a multistakeholder audience;
  • Proven experience in media and public relations ;
  • Knowledge and interest in relevant science;
  • Engaged in, or led, similar initiatives.
The role will give you a wide variety of tasks and responsibilities, varying from strategic to operational duties. We are seeking a person that is driven, pro-active and results oriented. You are a natural team player with strong abilities to create results with and through others. You have strong networking skills and come across as both pragmatic, persuasive and with the necessary cultural sensitivity.

Location is flexible, but you should be prepared to spend 1 week pr month (or similar) in Stockholm, Sweden where the secretariat is located. For the right candidate with deep knowledge of the industry, a part time position can be considered.
