Feed Trials Manager, Averøy Marine Harvest Fish Feed (MHFF)
Marine Harvest Fish Feed (MHFF) has quickly established itself as a world-class supplier of salmon feed playing a key role in supporting Marine Harvest in its delivery of high quality, nutritious, safe and profitable salmon. Currently operating from its factory in the Trøndelag Region of Norway, MHFF will expand its production with the opening of a second plant on the Isle of Skye in Scotland, in Q1 2019. MHFF will then manufacture a broader portfolio of conventional and organic feeds for both fresh and seawater phases of salmon growth in Norway, Scotland, Ireland and The Faeroe Islands.
Research and development is central to MHFF establishing leadership in the field of salmon feed production and our trial stations are key contributors to that strategy.
Based at our Averøy Field Trials Station, near Kristiansund (Norway), the Feed Trials Manager will report to the Research & Technical Manager as a part of the team responsible for feed product development and testing.
We are seeking a highly motivated, technically competent, individual to manage the product development field trials that are central to our business. Being responsible for the execution of the trials plan and playing a role in the interpretation of the data generated, the Trials Manager is one of the key contributors to MHFF’s strategy for technical development. As one of the leaders at Averøy, the incumbent will work to create a positive and effective work environment through support of the staff and the Site Manager; ensuring that the conditions to secure optimal growth, FCR and animal welfare are maintained at all times
This is a ‘hands on role’ and the successful individual will be someone seeking to develop their own knowledge and expertise and apply it within an efficient and dynamic technical / industrial / commercial workplace.
Candidates should possess a good degree in biological or veterinary sciences supplemented ideally, with a higher degree in aquaculture. Experience in salmon feed product development is an advantage, but is not an absolute requirement as the successful candidate will be joining a well-established team.
The working language of MHFF is English though, there is much day to day communication in Norwegian at Averøy. Therefore, the ability to communicate in Norwegian is a distinct advantage but is not an absolute requirement. First-class written and oral communication skills in English with an ability to explain complex processes or concepts and describe the meaning of the data generated at a variety of levels is essential.
The position will entail a modest amount of both domestic and international travel. The post will attract a competitive remuneration package which will include a relocation allowance.
