Wanted: new ambition to drive forward a new era of excellence

Director of Farming

Continuing our drive to farm evermore responsibly, we’re looking for a forward thinking, sector experienced and commercially aware Director of Farming to help realise our ambition for excellence.

With 42 marine farms around Scotland’s west coast, Orkney Islands and Shetland Isles, and a 464-strong team, Scottish Sea Farms is one of the country’s leading growers of premium farmed salmon which we now sell to customers in over 24 countries worldwide.
Closer to home, we're immensely proud to be the exclusive supplier of M&S farmed salmon and a key contributor to the remote and rural communities in which we live and work.

About the role
With a strong family ethos, our aim is to grow our business in the most sustainable way, setting the benchmark for responsible farming. The role of Director of Farming has a key part to play, overseeing all marine farm activities and helping ensure we’re investing our time, thought and money into the areas where it’s needed most.
Based at our new £55m RAS hatchery at Barcaldine near Oban, this is an instrumental role; the positive impact of which will be felt across our farming estate, support team and overall business performance.

About you
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will have extensive experience of farming Atlantic salmon at a senior level, with a proven track record of delivering stand-out results in commercial and strategic operations.
Over and above this core criteria, you’ll be a natural leader figure who can inspire your team to advance fish welfare, environmental protection and product quality at every turn.

Competitive package
In return, we’ll offer a competitive salary reflective of experience, along with personal pension, private healthcare and bonus scheme.
An equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons.
(Please note, if applying from outside of the UK you will be required to provide documentation of your right to work.)

To arrange an informal, confidential conversation about the role, email tracy.bryant-shaw@scottishseafarms.com.

Deadline for applications closes Monday 28 October 2019.
