RAS Technicians & Senior Technicians

Scottish Sea Farms are an internationally recognised farmer of superior quality Scottish Salmon with ambitions to continue our growth and investment.  Our state of art Freshwater Hatchery has already delivered outstanding results and we are now looking for more talented people to build on our success. The 17,500m2 hatchery has scope to produce up to 10 million smolts annually.  Its location on the shores of Loch Creran near Oban mean that these young salmon can be transferred directly from hatchery to well-boat via a pipeline then transported on to one of the salmon grower’s 42 marine farms around Scotland’s west coast, Orkney and Shetland.

 

Reporting to the RAS Operations Manager, the Senior Technician and Technician will assist in the day to day running of the RAS facility with the responsibility for ensuring tasks are carried out to a high standard.

 

The successful candidates will have at least 5 years’ practical experience in fish husbandry and ideally 2 years’ experience in RAS systems. You must also ensure that all tasks are completed in a professional manner adherent to strict health and safety requirements and practice good house-keeping throughout all activities.  You should be educated to a degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject area and understand the complex relationships between water quality parameters and fish health & welfare. You will be highly-organised, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and full of pride and passion for what you do.
