Assistant Hatchery Manager

Gadus Group Stadsbygd is a land-based hatchery just outside Trondheim, Norway. The facility produces cod juveniles for the fully integrated aquaculture company Gadus Group. The hatchery includes incubation, live feed production, larvae department and several grow out departments. Production capacity is app. 15 million juveniles annually based on 4 production cycles.

About the job:

  • In cooperation with Hatchery Manager responsible for daily operation of the facility; planning, coordination, follow-up, biology and financials
  • Assist Hatchery Manager in personnel and HSEQ-work
  • Ensure and maintain good work culture and teamwork
  • Optimise quality, operations and routines in the facility
  • Cooperate with Hatchery Manager to ensure that production and operation is in line with Best Practice and all relevant rules and regulations
  • Together with Hatchery Manager responsible to ensure that the dept. at all times lives up to GADUS-standards, and contribute to the positive development of GADUS

Desired qualifications and capabilities:

  • Higher education within aquaculture, biology and/or leadership. Long, relevant work experience may compensate for lack of formal education
  • Experience from land-based fish farming or marine hatcheries is beneficial, but not a requirement
  • Understand the importance of HSEQ
  • Good IT knowledge
  • Able to communicate well in English
  • Self-driven, positive attitude and willing to learn
